Work Truck Wednesday: The Long and Tall Of It Plus Compartments Galore!

 

The Knapheide KUV truck body is as popular as it is useful. Often called a Plumber Body, it is a great truck body for a wide variety of trades and contractors. Essentially this is a service body with a roof so one can stand up straight inside. In addition, it has long shelves inside with an outside door to access those shelves making it perfect for carrying pipe to jobs as needed. Each side cabinet has a lock and there is also a Master Locking System to make working out of those compartments so much more efficient. This Knapheide KUV is a considered 13' model (actual length is 12' 6") so it has more compartments on the side and more space inside. 

This great body is mounted on the Chevrolet 4500 LCF and its most valuable feature is the tight turning radius because even with this long body, the overall length is about the same as an extended cab pickup and even has a shorter wheelbase than that truck. It also has great visibility, is rather fun to drive, and has a gas V8 and automatic with many other features. 

We also stock even more of this truck in the 109" wheelbase with the 11' body. That truck will typically turn a 360-degree turn in the average city street!

Work Truck Thursday Welcomes The Ever-Popular Contractor Body

 

The Contractor Body is very popular because it can do so much for such a wide variety of contractors and businesses. It is essentially a flatbed with a lot of optional features which include a tapered headboard, forklift-loadable heavy-duty material rack, 8' long upper bed tool boxes with open top lids for a lot of small storage and by removing dividers carry long tools, plus two fold-down lockable compartments for a lot of tools, parts, and more. Then it has short fold-down gates around the rear of the bed and a cargo divider behind the toolboxes to allow cargo separation. Next, 2 60" underbed toolboxes for more storage, a step bumper across the width of the rear, and a class IV receiver and trailer plug.
