The Combo Body is a Service Body where the rear compartments have been removed and the floor is extended about 3' and extended out to the sides to create a very nice work platform. It usually comes with short fold-down removable gates around the platform to help keep things in the bed area where they should stay. This body usually has a heavy-duty forklift loadable rack as well. This creates a very useful body in that you have a similar storage capacity of the Service Body, but the rear work area like a flatbed, hence Combo Body. The work platform is somewhat lower than a flatbed would be so it makes it very easy to use. You can pull out your chop saw and go right to work, then store everything in the body when you're done. It is a great choice for a wide variety of contractors and users.
The combo body can also have taller compartments. The standard height is about 41" and varies slightly with different manufacturers. This makes the top of the compartments come to about the middle or slightly lower of the rear window. The taller compartments are often 60" tall and are above the rear window slightly. Although very rare, a low-pro version of the combo body would be about 34" and the top of the lids would be at the bottom of the rear window. With the combo body being mounted more often now on medium-duty trucks, the 60" tall is becoming more popular due to the substantially extra storage space that it offers.
