Work Truck Wednesday: The Perfect Contractor Body!

The Contractor Body is such a useful tool for a wide variety of contractors, and this particular unit is the mainstream of Contractor Bodies. It is also very affordable and has more than enough capacity for most applications. This is all true for these reasons: This unit is the 3500 HD dual rear wheel chassis with the gas motor. It has a whopping 14,000 lb. GVWR. The service parts such as tires, brakes, and more a so much less than if a heavier duty chassis were chosen. This makes it not only affordable to buy but affordable to maintain. It is lower to the ground than the larger chassis as well so it makes it easier to work from, get in and out of, and much more.

On this great choice of chassis, this Royal 12' Contractor Body is mounted. It includes 8' upper body toolboxes with fold-down doors and long access for longer tools with a flip-top lid with space for long tools there as well or uses the plastic removable containers for small parts and things you can take to the job site and back. Behind the upper toolboxes is a load divider so you can separate things when needed such as building materials and tools. Then it has short fold-down contractor gates around the back of the body. It has a tapered headboard that protects the back window and yet you can see through it. To this is mounted a heavy-duty forklift-loadable material rack. Below is a large toolbox on both sides, and last is a trailer hitch receiver and wiring plug. It is a grand package of useful features in one package called the Contractor Body.

Work Truck Wednesday: Massive Welder Body On Silverado 5500

Wow! Here's a unique service body from Harbor Truck Bodies that is commonly known as a Welder Body, but it can be a great body for a wide variety of contractors other than welders. It is essentially a Service Body with Raised Front Compartments and a Rear Work Platform. The Raised From Compartments add a good deal of storage and also accommodate drawers as this unit has and the curbside might be used for welder bottles or simply have moveable shelves. The 18" Rear Work Platform makes work in the field easier and also has added storage within. This platform is available on most Harbor Service Bodies as well. This body is 14' long so it can carry as much as you need to stay out in the field all day if needed. Any other accessories desired can be added.

This great body is mounted on the Silverado Medium Duty 5500 chassis with 19,500 lb. GVWR capacity and the famous Duramax diesel powerplant and Allison HD automatic and also includes creature comforts galore to make traveling to and from jobs a joy.

Fleet Truck Friday: The 3 Lessons Traditional Fleets Can Learn from Last Mile Operations

There can be little argument that COVID-19, at least in the short-term, has resulted in a seismic shift in the way many businesses serve their customers.

When the pandemic hit and lockdowns occurred across the economy — shuttering retail and business establishments of all sizes — businesses and the fleets that served them had to pivot quickly to meet the surge in demand from homebound consumers. Even as lockdowns have eased in the most hard-hit cities and regions, only about 50% of consumers feel safe going to a retail store and 35% feel safe eating in a restaurant, according to a recent report by Deloitte.

It is likely safe to say that the surge in demand — with eCommerce taking center stage — is here to stay. As one major last-mile company described it, we’re in a “never-ending peak season” with no end in sight, which makes planning and strong partnerships even more important. And while you need to meet your customers’ demands for your goods or services, you also have to do so in a way that is cost-effective.

To survive in the so-called today’s “new normal,” traditional fleets need to learn and keep the following three lessons that last-mile operations have perfected to make them productive and profitable.

Work Truck Wednesday Is Landscape Dump Wednesday

This 14' Landscape Dump is perfect for the Chevrolet LCF chassis design. Even though this is a long body, the wheelbase on this truck is still only 132" which is about what a standard 8' pickup truck's wheelbase is, and yet this will turn sharper because of the way the front axle is designed. Consequently, this unit has a smaller footprint than a regular cab chassis with only a 9' dump body.

The chassis has a 6.0 gas V-8 and includes many amenities. The body is supplied by Martin's Quality Truck Body and it is ready to go to work for you immediately.

Give our commercial truck experts a call at 951-364-2499 and let us help you get the perfect truck for your needs.
